Guided Tours for School Groups
“From the Workshop to the Museum”
This tour allows younger visitors to discover the work of Auguste Rodin as well as his personal life in Meudon, his home the Villa des Brillants and its surrounding park, and his collection of antique sculptures. Both a living space and a place of creation, the tour reveals the different stages involved in making a sculpture. From sketches to monumental works, the visit helps students understand the ingenious technical processes used in Rodin’s time to reproduce, enlarge, or reduce sculptures. In the Plaster Gallery, an educational space dedicated to the stages of sculpture-making explains the various techniques: clay modelling, plaster casting, stone carving, and bronze casting.
- Level: from CP (first year of primary school) to final year of secondary school
- Duration: 1 hour
- Times: 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Guided tours for school groups are free of charge. They take place with the full class group during the warmer season, from April to July. Tours are scheduled on selected days, according to a predefined calendar and subject to availability.
Requests for guided tours for the April–July period should be sent 1 to 2 months in advance to: scolaire@musee-rodin.fr
Arts and Cultural Education
Arts and Cultural Education (EAC) aims to encourage all children and young people to participate in artistic and cultural life through the acquisition of knowledge, direct engagement with artworks, encounters with artists and cultural professionals, and artistic or cultural practice.
Arts and Cultural Education is developed throughout a student’s school journey and pursues three main objectives:
- enabling all students to build a rich and coherent personal culture
- developing and strengthening their artistic practice
- fostering encounters with artists and artworks and encouraging visits to cultural venues
The Musée Rodin is involved in various arts and cultural education programs for students from nursery school to high school (La Classe, L’œuvre; C’est mon patrimoine!; Regards d’adolescents; Enfants-Conférenciers, etc.). A space in the Plaster Gallery is dedicated to presenting educational projects carried out during the school year.
